Ministry Description |
·The Main Thing - We have been handed the trust to equip the kids of CHC to become passionate followers of Jesus Christ. We want to see each student experience real community through their small group. We also disciple kids one-on-one (like when someone in your group becomes a Christian or if someone is a potential leader). We rely heavily on our leaders and helpers to help reach students and carry out the ministry.
The students meet @ 5:30 PM at the CHC GO Center. 5:30 PM– 6:15 PM is free time to hang out & play. Our worship time begins at 6:20 PM. We ask leaders to come early to be with the kids and get to know them. We also have events throughout the year that we ask our adults to help with. This ministry is an investment, whether you are Dad Patrol (security), a Small group leader, in the band, or set-up/tear down crew.
·Events - We do large group and small group events throughout the year that fall under at least one of the 5 purposes of the church. Magnification (worship), Maturity (discipleship), Membership (fellowship), Ministry (service projects), Missions (Matthew 28:18-20). Anything and Everything we do must be a reflection of our purposes. I believe we can meet these purposes and have a blast doing it!
·Prayer Ministry – Under the leadership of Beverly Campbell. These people pray for our students and parents and student ministry. They meet in the gym and warehouse before services on Wednesday night.
Dad Patrol – This is part of our CHC Security Team under the direction of Don Sargeant and Sam Underwood. These people are on a monthly rotation of watching out for the kids. The required time is 5:30 PM-8:30 PM when you are on duty,You don’t have to be a Dad to be on the Dad Patrol! You just need to love kids and want to get involved in ministry.

Expectation Of Small Group Leaders
Consistent Walk With Jesus. In order to pass the faith on to our kids we must be actively walking in it ourselves! A leader’s life must honor God if he/she is to truly impact their student’s lives. I know we aren’t perfect but your character definitely counts! Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. 1 Pet 2:11-12 (NIV)
In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. Titus 2:7-8 (NIV)
Spend time with your small group. This is absolutely a must! If true community is to be built there must be time spent together, both on Wednesday Night before the service begins and outside time other than on Wednesday night at the gym or warehouse. If this is not possible, then you might want to limit your role to helping in our large group events. These kids need meaningful relationships with godly adults.
Stay with the study plan that we are going through during the year. Please do not wing it or read the FAC questions to the kids – you will bore them and greatly limit your impact. We are very deliberate on the curriculum we use in the small groups. We need every small group simultaneously doing each study so that our students have the opportunity to grow in their faith. Please personalize each lesson and share from the overflow of what God is teaching you. Use visual aids every chance you get.
Attend our weekly leadership meeting. This is absolutely a requirement for leading in the Student ministry of CHC. It is for accountability, mutual encouragement, and community among our leaders. We meet 3 times a month on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM in room 106 and once a month at the Warehouse from 12:00 PM-1: 30 PM (note:we do the luncheon every time we have the bases). We also meet every Monday night from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM for Go Team. If you are unable to attend the Sunday morning meeting at 10:30 AM I ask that you come to Go Team on Monday night. The Once a month Leaders luncheon is a must for all leaders.
Financially participate in the Ministry of CHC. To be a leader in the student ministry of CHC one must be at least tithing on their income.
In the event of difficult life circumstances, burnout, or moral failure our desire is restoration. Sometimes people have hard things happen or make poor choices. In those times it is good for a leader to step down and catch their breath. In these cases the student pastors will work with these leaders to help them in their path to restoration.
Willingness to follow the leadership of the student pastors and their vision. This is crucial to our unity.
Communication. Please know that you have an open line with me. I care very much about how you are doing as a person. Also, if any part of your task is unclear don’t hesitate to let us know.
